A doubleheader was shared between the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and UW-Stout at Tuesday’s softball games in Menomonie.

The Pointers are now safeguarded at 5-11 in conference play with a 20-18 overall record. This will be the 16th consecutive season the women have had 20 and over wins.

The first few innings of game one were subtle until Samantha Bizeau cracked a grand slam at the top of the fourth, bringing the Pointers to a lead at 7-0.

Pointer senior Allie Dorn closed out the game at the bottom of the seventh, pitching multiple strikeouts into the end.

Dorn struck out four Blue Devils’ batters for a complete-game victory, with only six hits and a single walk.

Game two resulted in a 2-2 tie for the first half of the game. A battle was fought between the two teams resulting in consecutive ties lasting until the Blue Devils permanently broke through in the bottom of the fifth.

This was only the second loss of the season for Pointer reliever Jessica Berger who pitched four innings with four strikeouts.

Catch the Pointers in Superior for the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament from May 1 to May 3. Opponents in the tournament will be released later this week.
