Titans bury Pointers

The University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point women’s softball team yielded two losses to the UW-Oshkosh Titans in Tuesday’s doubleheader with scores of 5-1 and 10-1.
This dropped the Pointers to a 13-11 record and 0-6 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Game one left a single run for the Pointers in the bottom of the fourth by Jessica Berger after a line drive hit to third base from Allie Dorn. Berger played pickle between third and home bases to make the score.
Titans’ pitcher Lauren Roberts kept the Pointers at bay with nine strikeout throws. A walk was allowed for the Pointers when Roberts cuffed Dorn in the rump.
The Pointers struggled to regain runs throughout the evening.
Pointer pitcher Kayla Kastenmeier permitted seven hits and five runs by the Titans during the first four innings of action. Elyse Nelson stepped in to finish up the remainder of the game letting in two hits and two strikeouts.
The Titans tramped the Pointers with six runs in the first inning of the second game with Dorn pitching. Relief came with Nelson for two innings, which unraveled the game to two more runs and two walks. Kastenmeier stepped in for the final two innings in a standoff with two strikeouts and one walk.
The only score came from a lone homerun by Melissa Wenig.
Next up for the Pointers is another doubleheader at home against the Edgewood College Eagles. The Eagles are currently 5-5 in the Northern Athletics Conference. The game begins at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 16.
